Version 0.4.13 released
The Choicer Voicer » Devlog
Version 0.4.13 is now available, with the following changes:
- Fixed an issue where some WAV files had harsh blips playing at the end. It turned out to be metadata at the end of the file that was getting translated into audio
- Mild overhaul to player pack structure
- I've backported part of the upcoming 0.5 structure into 0.4.13's player pack
- Instead of requiring specifically-named audio clips of "talk_greet", "talk_upset", and "talk_cheer", each vocal reaction is now its own "slot" that you can either leave blank (so nothing will play), or add the name of an audio file in the player pack.
- Player talks no longer have to be shared by multiple situations. You can have a unique line for each of these nine situations:
- Getting a score of 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5 (each is their own slot)
- Being introduced
- Winning a game
- Losing a game
- The default assignment for this new player audio structure matches 0.4.12, so this change should be backwards-compatible with all preexisting 0.4 player packs. Please let me know if this is not the case for your packs.
- Included a crappy hotfix on indexed images with transparencies having weird backgrounds when appearing on the studio main screen.
- I know the problem but don't yet have a true cure. The main screen in the studio has transparencies disabled. This is because images with transparencies do not reflect on surfaces (notice that judges have no reflection because of this).
- For now, transparent pixels are replaced with light black when it's on the studio main screen.
- Reverted a change to the scoring algorithm that made it way too picky with giving 5/5. Getting a 5/5 score should be much easier now. (algo is still spaghetti-coded hot garbage though, and will be getting a rewrite in 0.5)
- Put a cap on the amount of image previews that appear when clicking a pack. I've gotten a report about the game crashing from opening too many image previews, so the current cap is 450 clips, after which ellipses will appear instead, to indicate there are more.
- Other changes from 0.4.12 that I haven't mentioned elsewhere:
- Audio sliders have had their max cap increased to 150% in case that's needed for some players
- Audio slider added for the player's recorded playback
- Mic test screen better communicates what the different audio effects do
- Fixed player audio not stopping when going to a new round
One new issue I've identified with this version is that, after the game launches, the very first recording will have its beginning clipped off for some reason. This happens reliably every time the game is launched, just for the very first recording. I do not know what's causing it. I hate it.
