The Choicer Voicer
A downloadable game for Windows and Linux
This game is in early access. Understand that this game is a work in progress and has many unresolved bugs, and that purchasing it now means you accept that some or all of it will not work on your PC.
One of the most well-known and game-breaking bugs is that players can hear themselves with the live mic, and the waveform sampling works, but they cannot hear their recorded audio. This is an issue with Godot's AudioEffectRecord node and does not yet have a solution. I haven't diagnosed what causes someone's audio setup to succeed or fail with it.
Another known issue is that OBS scene switching can cause a crash. This appears to be an issue with Vulkan. Starting with Version 0.4.14, a "Compatibility" version is included, which does not use Vulkan, and may give more stability (though this has yet to be confirmed).
I strongly recommend downloading the "No Gamplay Demo" version and verifying that the game runs without lag, and that your microphone works in the Mic Check before you consider purchasing.
Please read these notes before deciding to purchase:
- This version 0.4 is the first public release. Version 0.5 will feature many updates as well as some changes to pack structure and files.
- It's not optimized for older and lower-end builds. Additionally, it can apparently be a resource-hog, especially at higher resolutions.
- Although Mac support is planned, creating a Mac-version has far more roadblocks compared to Linux and Windows.

For individuals who only wish to create and test mod packs for The Choicer Voicer, the customization menu is also available for free, under the demo download.
There are many issues with the current build. When you discover a problem, please report it to "feedback.yeahmaybe@gmail.com" and be as specific as possible regarding specs and problems. In particular, I've been struggling to pinpoint the cause of the mic issues reported thus far.

Hello! i just booted up the choicer voicer, and my mic works in live mic testing but not in actual gameplay or the record/playback mic test, though the gameplay and playback shows feedback as if something was there. does anyone know how to fix this?
EDIT: i just saw that there was a thing about this on the game's page itself and has no fix yet
EDIT AGAIN: the temporary solution until a patch comes out is to use the compatibility branch

go to the appdata folder on windows and put the game folder from your mods there (i get my mods from gamebanana as its a trusted source for mods)

Hiiii, I was just wondering if there's anywhere I can get a png of the game's logo to use as a Steam custom library asset. I can't find one online and trying to cut it out from existing material seems to not be going so well for me
Was excited to get this game but its not for me id ask for a refund back but i dont want like people to come at me saying "oh didnt you read it it says when buying this game you accept that its not finished" and what not. i did read it but after trying it out its just not my kinda prefrence kinda game...

The v0.14.15 copy that Vinny streamed several months back was a private beta build that was buggy and lacked the standard gamemodes due to compatibility issues.

I tried to buy the game using PayPal, but I get an error message from itch.io saying there was a problem executing the payment. The issue is not with my PayPal account as I can still use it buying stuff on other websites.

It seems like changing the input device in the multiplayer menu doesn't actually have any effect. No matter what, it always uses the input device in the settings for every player.

Seems like a good game being worked on by a passionate dev. The one thing that should work for anyone who plays this game is the audio in/out and it doesn't. Wait to buy this until the solution isn't gonna send you on a crusade across the internet. Crazy that this is in 0.4 and its still an issue.
I agree, it is crazy that this is still an issue. But it's one I cannot fix myself because it's an issue with the Godot Engine itself; it's very likely due to the issue described in this pull request: https://github.com/godotengine/godot/pull/92532
I believe a fix will be added for Godot version 4.5, which is being worked on, so ideally that will fix it for Choicer Voicer as well, whenever I move the project to Godot 4.5
